Visit Valentine needed a new ad campaign to help promote the relaxing and fun activities along the Niobrara River that attracts thousands of visitors every year. The Niobrara River is a National Scenic River designated by Congress. The river winds through deep canyons with high cliffs, around pine-topped hills, and past many waterfalls. To say it’s scenic isn’t saying quite enough.
Visit Valentine is a member of the Western Nebraska Tourism Coalition — a tourism cooperative that pools resources to promote the region — and has access to a large library of photography we shot the previous summer to be used by members of WNTC.
Armed with this amazing photography, we developed messaging around some of the outdoor activities available on the river: tubing, kayaking, and canoeing. The fact that the river runs through Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge means there may be opportunities to see wildlife, including deer, elk, bison, and over 230 species of birds.
Rental rates for river activities like tubing and kayaking are very affordable, averaging around $40. We wrote the ads to reflect the chance to relax and enjoy nature, have fun with friends in an inexpensive way.
